Probably because the pipes hadn't been tightened very much - I noticed that too. And after I took it apart and mopped it up a bit, I left everything that goes under the sink out so that it could dry properly, and sent my sister a text so she'd understand why I did that.
And then I went to bed, and Jenn did NOT read the text, and when she woke up and saw all the stuff on the floor she was pretty grumpy about it!
Anyway, later on I realized I did actually have a pretty good idea how all that hair got there, well more than I'd otherwise expect, and told the person I think is likely responsible that the next time this happens I'm making everybody watch me take apart a sink so they know how to do this. God forbid the plumbing should break the same day I get hit by a bus or something!
