Doing math in the living room, trying to get it done before running to the orthodontist (15 minute trip there in car service, 5 minute visit, 20 minutes waiting for the bus to go home, half hour bus ride followed by 10 minute walk... geez), and Ana needs help.

So I'm walking her through converting ratios to the unit rate, and what does this mean, and if you find out that the unit rate is THIS much, how much is THAT many, and Eva is chiming in on every one of them, which, you can imagine, frustrated me no end.

Finally I get Ana situated and turn to Eva and say "Here, let me start you on spelling, you must be done with your math".

"Oh, no, I don't understand this at all!"

She doesn't understand fourth grade math, but she's whizzing through sixth grade math. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THESE GIRLS.
