We went to the doctor today anyway
Jun. 4th, 2014 09:30 pmAnd he said Eva looks to be recovering now and can go back to school tomorrow, but he might as well prescribe Ana a different antibiotic, and at any rate to come back Friday or at the latest Monday if they aren't doing better.
And now they both seem to be feeling a bit better, so I'm not worried, which leads me to a different worry...
My cat.
Callie normally has a normal sounding meow, but the past two days she's sounded high pitched and a little creaky, almost like she has her own sore throat. She shows no other signs of injury or illness, so I haven't taken her to the vet, partially because it's a long trip carrying a bulky carrier (or riding in one!) and partially because I don't have the money unless she's showing other symptoms. She's eating and drinking fine, she's not hiding or lethargic, she hasn't been sneezing and certainly has no discharge from the eyes or nose (which is something I do take very seriously) it's just... her voice.
Can cats strain their voices by hissing and growling too much, which is what she's been doing every time she encounters Tommy? (I'm actually taking that as a good sign, showing that she's no longer hiding up inmy her room to avoid conflict altogether.) That seems bizarre, but one area of cat care I really know very little about in practical terms is that of bringing a new cat into an established household. Even as a teen with way too many cats that was due to births, not adoptions.
