I won't link to any article on it, because I'm only reading them for the comments, and if you've seen one set of comments on this subject, truly, you've seen them all. "Oh, it's cleaner!" "Oh, take a damn shower!" "How dare you say my parents are child abusers and I'm not a man???" "How dare you abuse your child just because your parents mutilated you???" "I think my sex life is just fine!" "Dude, you have no basis of comparison, seriously."
But there were exactly two interesting comments I saw. One said that it is more difficult for intact men to use condoms. I had literally never heard this before, but then, my high school sex ed. was in the US, and they just mimed putting one on a banana.
A quick google search showed that condoms can be easier to use with an intact penis when they're produced in places where circumcision is less common and that you should roll the foreskin down first unless it is very long. So if you come from a place where circumcision is common and didn't know that, and your son is not circumcised, you should make that clear when you tell him to always always always use a condom.
The second is some guy saying that "circumcision is not cutting off part of the penis". I would love to see the mental gymnastics he went through to come up with that idea! If you think it's okay, go with that, but own what you're doing!
There was also somebody saying that it is unreasonable to state that parents shouldn't choose elective surgery for their kids without their consent because, after all, cochlear implants. The only way those two are analogous is that they can be controversial, so I don't know. I just don't....
Note: This ought to go without saying, but if you want to debate routine infant circumcision or, I guess, cochlear implants, go do it in the comments of some article elsewhere.
