Today is a day off for the nieces.
Feb. 15th, 2013 09:35 pmTheir break is down to two days due to the hurricane, but two days is enough, I think!
So I thought we'd hit the museums, the natural history museum today and the Met tomorrow. I've been itching to take them to either for a while, but I never had the time!
Ana had her follow up appointment with her doctor today. (He confirmed that it sounds like migraines and suggested keeping a record to find her triggers and also ensuring she gets enough sleep nightly.) I thought it was at 10:15, it turned out to be at 10:45, but as we turned up at 10:45 that's just as well. Unfortunately, we didn't even get seen until nearly noon! And they weren't that crowded, so I don't know what the issue was.
If I had known this would happen I would've brought lunch with us and headed straight to the boat, but I hadn't, so I planned to have BLTs at home. Also, I twisted my ankle. Again. So instead of getting there at threeish, we LEFT at threeish. Still, we could squeeze in just enough time at the museum, me limping around, right?
The trains were fucked. They didn't have the courtesy to warn us when we got on, of course, nooooo. Instead they tell us at 59th that in order to get to 81st we have to go to 125th and head back down. Eva keeps trying to nap, having gotten to bed late, and we didn't even arrive at the museum until 45 minutes before closing.
Sheesh. So we only went to hall of gems (Ana's idea) and then the dinosaurs (Eva's). Which neatly covers both the native option and the tourist one. The latter had people taking photos, and the former had people letting their kids play tag and climb on stuff.
Of course, all things come to an end, and I really flubbed this on the way home. I got the C home, forgot I was ON the C, and tried to transfer at 34th like I had on the way up, on the D. So instead of roast chicken for dinner, we had chocolate chip pancakes. That's not so bad, right?
Bum ankle and all, I hope to still make it out to the Met tomorrow. I'll just plan a little better.
