So, I went to the CMOM the other day. I didn't intend to, but Ana asked very prettily when we were at the boat, and I figured that free admission would be cheaper than $3 per kid for the toddler program at the SICM, right?

Well, we got up there and the guy at the front desk goes "You know you're only supposed to bring in one kid on your card, since this isn't your museum, right?"

As a matter of fact, I did *not* know that, especially since in the past I've asked how much to pay when dragging along three or four extra people, and the people at the desk then didn't charge me a cent!

Well, I had the money, I just had not planned on spending it, so I asked if just this once he could make the exception, because I was honestly not expecting that, and he rolled his eyes and gave me the stickers anyway without saying anything. (If he'd said no, I would have paid of course. I have no idea if policy has changed, or if nobody else working the front desk has ever cared, or if he's confused or what, but it's not worth worrying over.)

But I was kinda annoyed. Not at him, just at the situation, y'know?

The next day I went to one of our favorite playgrounds. But they're closed for resurfacing. So we went to the one Ana likes a lot more...

That park scares the crap out of me. You go there, and you see these two and three and four year olds climbing up this rock wall to get on the slide... and there's really very few safety features at all, aside from the sand at the bottom. It was designed that way. It's very pretty, and Ana can totally manage it (or I wouldn't go there at all, don't be absurd), and Evangeline can if I make sure she only goes up on the (stone) steps... but I can hardly bear to watch. And there is another section to that park, at the top of the slide. Unless you're standing just so, it's hard to see both sections at once. And there's no fence. It's supposed to be very natural-looking, like it's just formed out of the glacial rock (which is a tough sell considering the very land its on wasn't there 60 years ago) but to be honest, I prefer the seven-foot-tall firepoles and the burning safety surface of doom. At least I know what I'm up against there!

Evangeline played in the sand while Ana raced up and down and up and down again with a new friend or two. But when she woke up from her nap, the place was filled with kids (Ana was still going up and down), and she sensibly decided to stay with me the rest of the afternoon. So she had some lunch. Ana, despite my continually reminding her that I was not bringing lunch home with us, could only be bothered to have a few bites of her waffle sandwich, and apparently cried on the way home that she was hungry (honestly, before we left I *asked* if she was sure she didn't want to eat anything!) and was ravenous at dinner. She also had bags under her eyes the next day (Friday), so I stayed home and had her nap early.

The resurfacing should be done this week, they said, so if we're lucky it'll be done by Ana's birthday in May. We can only hope.
