And Michele's, and her friend Karen's, so it was a lot of people :)
Elise liked it - I decided against Thai because I know she doesn't like spicy food much, but she surprised me, eating quite a bit of the spicy condiments on bread. A few really good things about Elise: She is a great help with the kids (most of the time), she's not afraid to have fun at the children's museums yet (I keep forgetting she's only 13, but a lot of kids that age start affecting distaste for things like that, don't they?), and she's generally willing to try new foods, even when she's not sure she'll like it.
Poor dear had never had baklava before, so we had to make her get some :) I was trying to explain burek to her, and I said it's like baklava except that instead of being sweet with honey and nuts it's savory with meat and yogurt, and so is nothing at all like baklava - but it turned out she'd never had baklava in her life. Honestly, that scared me. But it's been remedied, all is well in the world again.
Before we went out to eat, we'd gone to the BCM, Su, the baby, me, and Elise. I did warn Elise that if she went, it wouldn't be as much fun as all that, as she would be going to help me watch the kids, but she seemed to have fun anyway, and really was a big help. Mostly :P Much too cold on the walk over, though. Brrr. Next time, I'll wear extra pants. No Pants Day is all well and good, but not in February.
This whole post is random. I'm sorry.
