A word to the wise for all my non-New Yorker friends...

Times Square? Tres overrated. No matter when you go. And more so for New Year's. Too many people, no place to sit, freezing cold for hours, nowhere to pee. Don't waste your time.

Also, the Macy's Parades are also overrated. And if you want to ride the Ferry, please follow a few basic rules:

Keep the doors shut. It's cold.
Um. Yeah, that's it.

Oh, and do NOT stand in the middle of a sidewalk with a map. Ever. That's rude. Move to where you're not in the way.

Mice in house...

Yeah, we have a bit of a mouse problem. But I don't want to *kill* them. I want to catch them humanely, and then take them far away in the freezing cold where there's lots of cats. Then it's nature killing them. Alternatively, I want to bring a cat inside. Then it's a cat killing them, and I get a pet cat out of the deal.

Right now I'm looking into humane traps. Because I really don't want to be the one dealing the death blow.

Yesterday, I got one cornered in the kitchen radiator. I kept trying to nudge it out, so it'd land in a big pot and I could take it outside (far from the house) and let it go, but it was too smart for that. It finally scurried under the little fridge. And then, when I moved the fridge, it ran out to my mom. BROOM! Back to me. POT! Mom. BROOM! Me. POT! BROOM! POT! BROOM! POT! BROOM!

RUNACROSSFLOORUNDERBIGFRIDGE!

Where it's no doubt still sitting, assuredly plotting death and destruction upon this house. Cute little thing, but far too smart for its own good.

Happy New Year's eve.

With luck, this coming year will be better than the last, right?

Question.

I don't know that much about fandom, but I'm starting to notice something.

Every other fanfic I see has Draco as being troubled, or nice, or an old softie, or something. People love Draco.

But Dudley, he never gets any of this. He's never even *mentioned*, much less cooed over.

Why is this? Where's the Dudley love? Poor Dudley. HE's never going to be seen as misguided. HE gets no chance to free himself from the shackles of the Dursley's "parenting". He's never even going to apply himself and make everybody realize that he's really been underachieving, not stupid.

Poor, poor Dudley.

Time to go a-hunting for userpics!

Go on, suggest new icons for me. Better yet, tell me which of my existing icons I should drop, or never EVER drop, whatever. Go wild. I want new userpics.

This person is in desperate need of your eggplant recipes. Eggplant stew, stuffed eggplant, eggplant lasagne... mmm. Never can get enough of your cooking. Eggplants = yummy. Do me a favor, post some recipes? Thankies.

I never used to like eggplants, actually, until I accidentally got some in a falafel. I still didn't like them, but I was so irritated at having to eat them (and not like them) that I set myself to learning how to tolerate them, pretty much be eating eggplant every time I got the chance. Did the same thing with green pepper. I do *not* intend to do the same thing with mushroom, ick. There's too many poisonous ones that look and act JUST LIKE the edible ones, it's simply not safe.

Oh, this is too funny. Especially the line about her valuable work. I'm sorry, Martha, but teaching other people to buy your products isn't valuable work.
