And here's the link.

What can be said? Everyone... everything is falling apart. And people are trying to spread blame. It's the Iraqis. It's Bush. It's the individual soldiers. It's this specific soldier. Um. Wait, wasn't it the Iraqis? No, this is why they did it. No, that is why they did it. Who they? It doesn't matter. People aren't going to find a solution to anything by spreading blame, but that's all they want to do.

Cautionary Tales for Children.

*dies again*

I cannot believe that this is in print. I grew up hearing about Jim (who ran away from nurse and got eaten by a lion) and honestly would never have imagined having the complete collection of "cautionary tales" poems. In fact, the only other one I can recite is Matilda (who told lies and was burnt by fire), though I know bits of Henry King (um... the Chief Defect of Henry King was eating little bits of string) and the one that starts: The nicest boy I ever knew was Charles Augustus Fortescue (who never took a stand and sucked up to everyone and therefore went far in life).

Yeah. I want this.

And, predictably, the fire and police departments are bickering about who gets to give the orders. Y'know, that's caused more than a few unneeded deaths, one group refusing to take orders from the other...

*sighs* Anyway, call me a conspiracy theorist but I think I might wanna leave the city until the election is over. Not that I actually suspect either candidate would try something, that'd be stupid for whomever did it, but... I trust the candidates to look after their own self-interest and be smart enough to know where that is. I don't trust everyone else to be that smart. Not necessarily. Not that my paranoia is going to do me any good, since I won't leave the city and nothing is going to happen anyway.

(edit) Maybe my paranoia isn't completely unfounded, the transit workers are also getting more emergency training lately. I'm probably just worried because I see these articles. Nothing really is happening.

Apparently, the fact that they're banned by the Geneva convention isn't good enough for us. Well, not that I didn't already know that.

*hums slightly* I wonder how US prisons are run. Never thought about that before. I mean, honestly. If conditions in prisons here are similar to conditions there, then we should've expected this (we should've anyway, that's one of those things that happens when you don't work hard against it). Then of course, the question is "are conditions in our domestic prisons different from conditions on other prisons?". *runs to google*
