Saw Jenn and Ana and 'dul and Seth and Lizziey today.

And my mom, but I see her EVERY day, so she doesn't count.

The babies apparently play beautifully together now. It's so cool. And Ana has caught on to the concept of cause and effect, or at least how it relates to some of her blocks... she pounds the face on top, and the front part spins! Whee! Seth doesn't have those blocks, so he doesn't know how they work yet. But he will. Oh, he will.

And I made dinner. Quesadillas, with corn and beans and cillantro and stuff; chicken with garlic and onion and cillantro and stuff; and rice. And strawberry shortcake (cream on top!) for desert. I love that stuff.

So....

Turns out that Michael has a girlfriend. Which, of course, explains why he was completely unprepared for Latin today *rolls her eyes loudly* So unprepared, in fact, that Professor Van Sickle ABANDONED us, leaving us to our own devices.

Seriously, if you're taking six classes, you can't use "my girlfriend" as an excuse for not studying a'tall. Even if she DID go to the hospital as another person with "gas poisoning".

God, this person just does NOT give up!

And s/he is one serious-ass troll, too. One would think that anybody with sense would realize that disease is not caused by bad behaviour but by microscopic organisms, but apparently this person never got the memo.

My general feeling about the situation in Israel is, and has always been, that the situation is too complicated to be summed up in a few words. It's certainly more complicated than "Israel is right and the Palestinians are criminals" or "The Palestinians are right and Israel is a police state" or "People should just all get along!!!!!111one", and I won't pretend to know enough about the subject to argue about it.

However, the one thing I think I do know is that all this violence begats more violence, and it makes you into the bad guy. I don't care how desperate you are, justifiably or not, it's NOT right to attack unarmed civilians, not children, not without warning. It's not right now, it never WILL be right, and it's stupid because then... you get retaliated against. And it doesn't matter HOW many suicide bombings there are, the perpetrators are dead, it's not right to retaliate by bombing a town and killing more civilians. Even if you were aiming for a particular noncivilian, you're just making things worse because... people get mad and start bombing again. And it goes on. Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

So, I guess there's my answer. People are stupid, and they keep trying the same stupid things, even though it didn't work the last time and won't work the next time. And then when things get worse, they throw up their hands and blame somebody else.

NYC has the longest commutes in the country...

It probably should depress me that I hear "44.1 minutes" and go "I wish mine were that short!"
