And at least twice, he said that "you should put meat on your bones". I let this pass the first time, but... well, let's explain. I'm not fat, but I'm hardly anorexically thin, either. As it happens, I see this as a *good* thing, but the expression "you need to put meat on your bones" really doesn't seem right for me... I think I'm pretty much at my natural weight right now.

So I asked him, "Um, Gabe? How much do you think I weigh...?"

Apparently, the answer is 110.

0.0

A hundred and ten.

"Gabe... you know I'm around 170 right now, right?"

No, apparently he did not.

Sheesh, no wonder people have such unrealistic ideas of what number their weight should be (let alone how they should look, that's a different issue) if they think me being me is 110 pounds. I'm 5'6". If I were 110, I'd have to be starving myself. Yes, some people weight much less than I do at my height without starving themselves, their builds are completely different. I'm really not sure where that extra 60 pounds went in his estimation. Even if he were estimating down for some reason, that's a lot of weight to subract from a person!

And I realized... some of the words repeat! Maybe, if I use my nifty translation, I can figure out what a few of the words are.

Yeah, I'm bored. And I haven't done this in a long time. But as I have nothing else to do.... Let the mangling begin! )

I wasn't using my Red Han Solo icon much, so I thought I'd ask Xiggy to add text to it. Well, that wasn't good, so she went looking for a new Solo pic...

And found a simpsons action figure.

That, and the quote I gleaned from The Courtship of Princess Leia, and we were set.

So, go, ogle the icon.

Let's get this cleared up.

Recipe communities are for human foods, not animal foods. If you want to know about cats, dogs, mice, talk in those communities instead.

More importantly...

Cats are carnivores.

Under no circumstances should you attempt to put your cat on a vegan diet. That's right, I said vegan. Not vegetarian, which is still highly iffy, but vegan.

Cats need animal products. Shit, cats need meat, because dairy ain't good for them, and there's no way your cat can survive on eggs alone.

Now, there's nothing wrong with being a vegetarian or a vegan. You're making your own choices about what you eat, and humans did not evolve to primarily eat meat. In fact, if we ate as much meat as cats do (proportionately), we'd probably die of a protein overload. If the thought of animals dying is so much that you'll let your pet cat suffer with an inadequate diet, get a rabbit instead. They are perfectly happy to be meatfree, and they're just as smart.

Incidentally, I'm not too thrilled with the cat food that's generally available in the US.... aside from being bulked up with "animal byproducts" and grains, and containing dairy products (which, if you've been paying attention, is bad for cats)... Cats in the wild do not eat beef, nor turkey, nor lamb, nor even chicken. Cats in the wild eat pigeons and sparrows and mice.

Here is a page detailing some things to look for in cat food. It's a little cutesy, but....
