Go hereIt says our faith in the ferries that nobody was shying away from the boats today (though there were, inexplicably, more cops on the boats....) But it makes sense. I've been on that boat when the fog was so thick you couldn't see the other side until you were docking, and it's supposed to (been a bit warm lately) get cold enough in winter that it freezes up badly, and nothing ever happens. Heck, in '92 there was a hurricane, flooded Brooklyn, they couldn't get the people off the boat, the waves were going OVER the boat, and everyone was fine.
So this statement is perfectly predictable:
HEMMER: Kenny Bucchieri is a witness, a passenger on board that ferry yesterday. Will you ride it again today, Kenny?
BUCCHIERI: Of course. I'm a New Yorker. Incidentally, I suspect the interviewer knows NOTHING about Staten Island.... The guy on NY1, he knew, he used to go to Stuy, he was the only one to mention which boat that was.
_____Update on the captain, they think he passed out, they don't know why yet other than that he wasn't drunk or on drugs, maybe he didn't take the blood pressure meds he was supposed to. He both slit his wrists AND shot himself with a BB gun, then he called 911.
