The rash cleared up this morning, but we headed off to the doctor anyway. Sometimes I feel we live there! The doctor listened to the proof, pointed out that strep rashes rarely clear up on their own like that, but gave the rapid strep test anyway. He got one line and a very faint maybe line, so he agreed to hold it for an hour in case it was less rapid than all that and sent us for an allergy test. Ana, I will say, was a little trooper about having blood drawn for this allergy test, no fussing or whining or anything. I am so proud.

The second we got off the bus we got a call from the doctor. After an hour he checked the test again and, guess what? It's strep. I am as smart as I thought, even smarter because this clinches it - Ana doesn't react typically to strep throat. Which is kinda annoying because I picture us going through this rigamarole of not being believed for many years to come*, but now that I know I can be more on top of things.

* this is unnecessarily harsh sounding. I wouldn't have believed me either if I were the doctor, but he's actually a great doctor in that he doesn't point out that you're making little sense, he just goes along with the doubtful strep test anyway. I like it when doctors take me seriously, even though obviously they know, or should know, more than I do about medicine.
