It's horrendous. The shooter was some idiot 21 or 22 year old. Looks like just some regular guy. One of the people killed was a 10 year old girl. Giffords was shot right through the head but isn't dead. Surgery is complete.

She was shot at the Safeway where I used to shop when we lived in the apartments when Kira was a baby. I know that area and that store in and out. Now I'm about 14 miles away, but all the news stations are telling us to avoid the area and intersection (which is closed) altogether. My grandparents called me and I didn't answer, and so they called my dad to worry that I was at that Safeway.

CNN still hasn't, I'm watching their live feed. The only confirmed death they're discussing is the 9 year olds, and talking about the suspect.

On an aside, I was chatting on the 16 & Pregnant MTV chat recently, and mentioned putting my daughter's birth on youtube, and someone piped up saying "oh hey, I saw that! Yours and Sayga's, because I was looking at fellow LJers births they'd posted in Natural Birth right before my youngest was born". Small world, eh?

Mine is just local news, but is is a local event for us, so I don't know who to believe. I'll give it a few more hours.

And, my sister was recognized by someone in person from the video. They said to her, "this is going to sound weird, but are you on a homebirth video on YouTube?" And she was like, "Yep! That's me!" I've never been recognized, but that's probably because people were looking at my ass, not my face. Perhaps if I go around with my pants down.....

Oh, I'm sure she will. I nearly choked when CNN read off McCain's "tribute" to her. I mean, sure he didn't run that poster/picture but you were Palin's running mate. THIS MIGHT BE THE TIME TO STFU.

And I ignore Fox news. We don't have cable here, so when I catch the news, its CNN on my computer. So...I manage to stay protected from anything Fux (spelling intentional) related. :D But it does NOT surprise me, at all. >.>
