If "Most Of Us" is actually a majority of the population, I see a huge difference between those who own their home and that's it, those who have trouble with their mortgage, those who have trouble with their rent, and those who have trouble thinking of more things they can do for their friends/parents to keep themselves from getting kicked out. And the homeless.
The first group can do with an income tax, the last four would have some form of government aid in any civilized nation. And what that aid would be would have to be different for each of them.
