And now I'm playing the game again, so I'll just type them all up, why don't I - or at least the ones that strike me as wrong.

See, that's the thing. The way the moles talk seems like it's intended to emulate AAVE, with "be" instead of "are" and whatnot. If it is, though, it's doing it wrong. Or maybe not. Maybe it's supposed to be in some other dialect and doing it just right, or maybe it's doing AAVE just right and I don't know because it's not my dialect and I don't catch it. But I'm reading it aloud and it sounds just wrong.

Any insight would be appreciated :)

Prior to fetching the star:

Little kid in the inn: Dyna went to the mountain with little Mite. But a star crashed into the mountain and now they be trapped!

Woman outside mine: A star crashed into the mountain and trapped some kids inside. To make things worse, one of the men folk be stuck inside too. Please Mario, you gotta help us!

Man inside mine: I don't know if I'd be feelin' any different if I was her. (This one is borderline, it doesn't sound wrong to me, but neither does it sound right.)

Sounds kind of like English countryside dialect in the 19th-century novels I've read. "One of the men folk be stuck inside," especially.

"I would be" in that last sentence is standard.

(I had to google AAVE to figure out what it was.)

My call is for backwoods dialect (English or American is dubious, not enough data) with the "men folk" phrase in there.
