Has anybody ever read about Cuba's "Special Period"? Sheesh, if even half of Wikipedia is correct today, it's the most fascinating thing I've read in the past two weeks.

Crazy. I get lots of tidbits about Cuba via my MIL who moved to the US in the 70s. She's still got family there and the whole situation is very frustrating and sad. I haven't heard anything about this though, so maybe I'll ask her.
