There's this personal account of being aspie over at CNN...
And over here is ABFH's take on it. She can always be relied upon for her interesting (in the good sense) writing.
In other news, apparently That Organization (you know the one - and if you don't, just ask) has ads on LJ. Which in and of itself isn't a bad thing (well, okay, I wouldn't be happy with it anyway, but I suppose I must concede the point that they are allowed to advertise the fact that they exist. Maybe), but naturally those ads are turning up in the most inappropriate places. Like over in
asperger.
Much though I'd like to blame this on That Organization, or even LiveJournal, it's probably better to blame it on the way interest-based ads work. I'd like to suggest that people who have seen this ad (particularly in their own journals) lodge a complaint (a polite complaint! Support doesn't make these ads and doesn't choose where to put them!) like the FAQ says.
Here is information on what sort of ads are not supposed to be accepted by LJ, if you want to back up your complaint with policies.

Date: 2008-04-01 02:54 am (UTC)I complained using the ad feedback thing. Nothing happened.
I was getting those ads in places that had nothing to do with ADD.
I spent years getting off Ritalin. It was personally emotionally damaging to have those ads constantly there. Some of them were even the sort that seem to imply in their measly ten or so words that if you wait one day to drug your ADD child, years of potential will be wasted OH NOES!
So I went off of Plus, created a dummy icon account, and have been quietly getting picture storage off of them that way any time someone goes after one of my neurodiversity icons.
