Vote, dammit, vote!

Mind, I'm not voting, but I don't believe I can without at least one form of ID - even a non-official one. And I don't have that. I'm still waiting on renewing my passport from umpety-seven years ago.

i took my passport to the polling place and the guy said it isn't a valid form of ID for voting! all they looked at was my drivers license (not even my voters reg card). i couldn't believe a passport is not valid...

You should be able to do it with just your voter registration card. THats what I did in Brooklyn. (And here in Iowa, too.)

What state are you in? Many states dont even require ID.

At any rate, I can't get a state ID until I renew my passport, because without my passport I don't have all my points of identifaction.

yeah, my birth certificate was lost for a while, so i had to make sure to always renew my passport (i've had one since i was 2) before it expired, so i would be able to get my license when i turned 16. guess i could have applied for a new birth certificate but i didn't know that at the time. :P

i'm in arizona. how can they not require ID? or do they check a voters registration card instead?

I think that what happens is worst case they take your info, give you a provisional ballot and set it aside to look stuff up or something. They have (had?) my sig on file and I just had to sign the roster right next to the sig they had from when I registered to vote.

That's what I did in Queens, too. I always bring my ID with me and they never ask for it.
