Apparently, anything that happens to a baby or toddler, no matter what it is, it "sounds like teething".

Sleeping too much? Teething.
Sleeping not enough? Teething.
Cranky? Definitely teething.
Huggy and clingy? Teething.
Biting? Teething.
Sucking on things? Teething.
Refusing to eat? Teething.
Drooling? Teething.
Diaper rash? Teething.

I suspect this is because babies seem to be teething continuously from birth onwards. Even if the symptom really *is* unrelated to teething, who cares? Kid's probably got teeth coming in anyway, so might as well give him something to deal with that.

Which is fair. It all sounds like teething to me too, even when it happens to a six year old (after all, they've got their adult teeth coming in - teething!)

Realistically, the only one of those I can't really see being attributed to teething is sleeping too much.

Hell, my mate that's 25 years old is teething now, wisdom teeth! So writing reports is definitely a symptom of teething too! I know I did it when I got my wisdom teeth!

I've noticed that. Everytime people see Kaitlin chewing on her fingers I get, "Oh, she must be teething!" No, retard. She's chewing in the back of her mouth. The first teeth come in the front, but thanks for playing!

Adult teeth coming in to replace baby teeth is nothing like baby teeth or wisdom teeth coming in. I had my wisdom teeth come in, and I remember. The teeth cutting through uncut gum... that hurts like hell. Adult teeth coming in don't particularly hurt.

teething lasts for a looong time-I'm 20 and I'm still getting in my wisdom teeth. I do not, however, have most of those symptoms. Though maybe I can get away with biting a few annoying people and telling them I'm teething ;)

I try to sleep off feeling bad too, and I hadn't thought of that. You're right.

I must have been hell as a baby teething, because, now, when I teeth, its been the only time my husband has seriously considered leaving me. I get -that- cranky. And lazy, because it gives me such bad headaches that I fall asleep from pain overload, leaving him to take care of brats.

And God thinks its fun to make me teeth each pregnancy when I can't take anything, and since I have plenty of room for my darling wisdom teeth, they get to stick around, and grow. and hurt. *cry*
