how sad! =(

"Gracee and her older sister, 5- year-old Makaylah"

that's the closest spelling to my name that I've seen (Makalah).

[identity profile] xmorningxrosex.livejournal.com 2004-12-28 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
heh, well I've heard people pronounce that 2 different ways "Michael with an A at the end" and "ma-kay-luh" (sorry about butchering the phonetics of that), but mine's the second pronunciation. My mom just spelled it her own way after she heard the name at the hospital while in labor, so it's unusual that I see anything similar to mine. :)

MacAelah?
(Or MacAylah, I've seen both.)

Or Mikaela!

I do.

I, personally, lose my temper easily with babies. This is why I stay away from them. I can't function around little children/babies that can't follow simple orders (be quiet, sit down, yanno, stuff like that).

I just have a temper problem.

While what she did was deplorable, and just stupid, I can see people getting that angry. I can get angry like that, but not to where I'm physically harming an almost-two year old.

aww.

hey, forced exposure helps.

it's just that I have this inherent need for people to just do what I say. ESPECIALLY in the kitchen and by little 2-3 year olds. Triple word score when both happen at the same time.

I mean, hearing 'no!' and the variations thereof don't help my blood pressure.

So Nature pwns me (and I mean pwned.) by whapping me with migraines. Bitch.

Wait, did you say you were me? I feel the exact same way. I have enough self-control to keep from harming a child, but I get frustrated far too easily to deal with kids.

I understand anger. I do not understand anger over something like that with a 2 year old, and taking that anger to that extreme. A woman who works with children, not being able to cope with the actions of such a young child? There should be special, cruel punishments for people who harm/kill children. I can't think of any that would do justice, but I'm sure there are those that can.

This kind of thing makes me sick to my stomach.

[identity profile] deathchibi.livejournal.com 2004-12-28 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Special punishments for people who harm children? I don't really understand the 'child is more than the adult' mentality, since hurt is hurt, however old you are. No one deserves abuse, rape, or anything like that. No one.

But maybe I'm a cold, unfeeling bitch, I don't know. I do acknowledge that for my apparent lack of maternal intstinct for children, I won't have any. It's things like this that remind me of my desire not to want to have children. What if I did that? I'd be a monster, too.

It's a shame this sort of thing is becoming more and more common. Either that, or we're catching it more, I'm not sure. Still, poor kid.

I think I love you.

and your icon as well.

I don't get special punishments for that sort of thing. It makes children more valuable, and therefore the everyone else less important.

yanno?

I perhaps didn't explain that as I wanted too. I didn't mean it in the 'child is more than the adult' mentality, as I agree with you that hurt is hurt, and no one deserves to be hurt. And those who hurt others should be punished. I guess in my mind, it's just that if you were to approach me and ask me something, and I did not reply to your liking, you could attempt to shake me in the manner this woman did to this child, but I, being an adult, have a chance to defend myself (more so that a 2 year old, simply from a size perspective).

But I agree, it's either more common now, or we just hear about it more ... either way, it's a sad thing :(
