... If kids didn't understand the concept of "special occasion," they'd be demanding birthday and Christmas presents every day.

I should note that I'm not surprised at this. Rolling my eyes at the stupidity of it, yes, but I've long since stopped being surprised by people like her. Urgh.

Ah well, now that is daft.
The Scottish wear kilts, and are Scots hoomoos? No.
I'm afraid to say the world is gettimg dumber, and I'm glad I have sausage sandwiches with ketchup for breakfast.

I'm Scottish by ancestry (Clan MacKinnon of Skye), so I can say "a sheep can hear a zipper a mile away," without being offensive, right?

I'm a leader for kids-activities at church, and we have a 13 year old boy who is just adorable. Once, he wore a green skirt to church, without his parents knowing, and I felt instantly that I, as a leader, should encourage this kind of behaviour. The other kids (all younger) asked him afterwards why he wore a skirt, and he replied "In scotland, guys wear skirts". It was a new situation we encountered, and I think we all handled it very well and there were not many who chided him for it.

We have also introduced a drama class in church, where the gender roles are VERY subtle. I hope to see boys who dress like girls and girls who dress like boys as a standard in my church in the future, anyway.

What?! I used to dress as a boy quite frequently as a little girl and I turned out... never mind.

As the saying goes, "I used to be a tomboy. Now I'm a full-grown lesbian."

Augh. That article makes my brain hurt so much.

It doesn't help that I think a "cross-dressing day" like that would be pretty awesome, and I like swapping gender roles around all the time. I'd find a military dress up day to be a lot more offensive.

Also, this reminds me of the many times I've seen where people won't allow a guy on a field hockey team because the uniform includes wearing a skirt.

I feel like I crossdress when I wear womens clothing. Does that count? :D

[identity profile] drapery.livejournal.com 2004-11-17 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. Who would have thought that the clothes I wear automatically determine my sexuality?

Of course, my favorite quote is the last one. 'Cause, y'know, if you wear girl clothes for one day, it will ADDICT you. And you'll BECOME a girl! oh god no!

I'd say only in texas, but with dubbaya getting elected...

Fact: Crossdressing is more likely to occur in heterosexuals than in homosexuals.

Fact: Homosexuals are known to eroticise uniforms.

Conclusion: That woman wants to turn our children the gay!
