Hm... something on my friends list is prompting this...

[Poll #444931]

Edit: Once again, the Museum of Menstruation comes through for us, this time listing terms for menstruation.

I plan to use at least one a month on this journal until I get bored. These terms may or may not coincide with my actual period.

I find it strangely reassuring that so many people on your friends list use pads. Not that there's anything wrong with other methods; it's just that whenever the topic comes up in a community I read, everyone acts as if pads are teh evil... which gave me the impression that I must be some kind of freak for using them and being happy with them. (Well, as far as you can be happy with pads. Heh.)

I just really don't like pads... Tampons aren't that much better, but they don't chafe....

EEW.

Scented ones are so gross. and alleric-y. and bad smelling. As someone else on childfree said, 'Fake flower smell plus blood is bad.'

I swear, in the last week I must've seen about 10 different posts talking about or referring to scented tampons. I've not seen a single one in the three years before that. Did I miss something?

I'm on Depo, so I don't exactly get one. Occasional spotting, but that's really rare (maybe 2x a year?). Before I was on it though, I usually stuck with unscented tampons (my mom's quite paranoid about things being unnatural, so she was really against scented stuff).

Tampon and pad for the first two or three days, just pad after that.

Although I'm weird; I often wear pantiliners when I'm not bleeding, because discharge, and sweat in hot weather, bugs me.

I use pads because I dislike the entire concept of tampons: blood that's doing its best to come out of my body and is no longer patrolled by my immune system isn't something I want to keep in any longer than necessary. I use disposable ones because my male roommate's head would probably explode if he saw me using nondisposable. I'll break him to it someday.

[identity profile] leora.livejournal.com 2005-02-26 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I assume my pads are unscented, but I'm not sure. I don't sniff them before use or at all for that matter. I can't read the information on my pads, so I generally buy what seems closest to my preference and make do if I didn't get quite the right item.

I use pads... I don't even think they sell some of the more unusual stuff here, at least I have yet to come across them. (Like cups - I first learned about'em reading your journal a month or so ago.) Scented is EVIL.

[identity profile] velasco.livejournal.com 2005-02-27 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It may just be me, but I use nonscented pads (ie, whatever I can get cheaply, being a poor college student and all :P) and also fold up some toilet paper while it's on, for the extra protection. In the days before and after I use the toilet paper alone, to catch any leaks and not have to waste a pad. It works, it isn't any more expensive than pad alone and it gives extra reassurance. *thumbs up*
