Girl in the Shadows: Dasani's Homeless Life

This is a long, 5-part article. I wasn't going to post it when I read it, because it is so very depressing in parts, but everybody else seems to be passing it around and I'd rather be a little depressing than very behind the times.

I agree that a 6-year-old child is not fully responsible for his own behavior, but I really have to wonder at the [expletives] who are teaching him to be such an entitled little jerk.

Hunter for his part said he feels "sorry" for doing something wrong and tries to be good in school.

"But I just have a lot of energy. Six-year-olds, they have a lot of energy," Hunter said.

That's not ok, young man. Really, pursuing a girl who has repeatedly asked you not to kiss her? "Energy" does not excuse that. Something is WRONG with the idea that it's any kind of excuse. The people responsible for teaching you how to be an adult did you no favors if they gave you the idea this is how boys are supposed to behave.

...as a parent of a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old, an innocent peck on the cheek or on the hand seems as natural for kids this age as declarations of who they plan to marry.

It gets less and less innocent, the more often the target asks the pursuer to stop doing it.
