Hm. Random question.

Do you think Calvin and Susie ever realized that they have no friends aside from each other? And, of course, the stuffed animals.

Susie realized it, I think. There's at least one strip I remember where she's sitting by herself and being depressed.

Calvin could care less, because he's got Hobbes.

Sigh.

Whenever you point it out, I realize how much I do hate that phrase, yet I still use it.

"Could care less" is just as valid as "couldn't care less". The difference is the former is sarcastic and the latter is simply literal.

Less than Susie. Is using the previous example as the implicit in a comparative statement immediately following that example wrong? What makes it wrong and why didn't anyone ever tell me.

I don't think Calvin needed anyone but Hobbes and his imagination. I feel his fantasy world had the real world beat by a mile. I always felt a little sorry for Susie though.

I seem to recall that Susie did actually realize that and spent a few strips thinking about it. It's been a while, though, so I could be mistaken. (Calvin? Realize things?)

I never really thought about it.

I guess I always figured that Suzie did have other friends; we merely never saw her with any because they would have been minor characters.
