A lot of people have been losing posts because they're on Filetmignon.

I agree with them, the situation sucks. However...

Nothing is perfect. LiveJournal could be running absolutely smoothly, with no problems, and if you're posting something very important and irreplaceable you're running the risk of the entire internet crashing, just to prevent you from posting that entry.

Please. Type up your entries in word first. Then, when the world ends, you'll still have them.

Or use the Semagic client: http://www.livejournal.com/community/ljwin32_sema/

It saves your entries when you're typing, even if your comp crashes.

I echo [livejournal.com profile] ladyshrew. I use Semagic or alternatively Firefox's Deepest Sender http://www.livejournal.com/community/deepestsender/
precisely because I got sick of LJ losing my posts. (This was even before I was on the unstable server, too!)

I would recommend *against* using Word...it's too unstable a program, and it has the ability to completely trash files when it crashes. *shudder*

And it's kinda annoying the way it changes things you DON'T WANT CHANGED. :-P

I think you can turn that off. Not just specific instances, but the whole autocorrect feature. But yes, annoying. The worst is when it creates numbered lists that I don't want.

Ew!

But I don't turn it off because it's mostly convenient when I'm typing essays. Mostly. Or maybe I just learned to live with it. heh.

Yeah, me too. :( Curse you, Microsoft!

The least Bill Gates could do is give us all a million dollars for putting up with his shit. ;-)

Ditto! Not only do I get to stop worrying about losing entries, but it makes it oh so easier to do all of the tags, cuts, and image posting thingies!

I'm in mad, passionate love with Semagic. I've been using it for a long time.

I'm on Filetmignon. I'm so glad I'm a paid user.

Hate that it's been a problem so long, but at the end of the day, its not my most expensive blog. If Typepad acted like this, I'd be upset. But I'm kind of used to LJ being a problem, and try not to get too pissed off.

It's the commenting that's getting on my nerves, trying to comment on friend's journals.

*shrugs* Copy before you post; then if the post gets eaten, just paste and try again.

That's what I would suggest.
