We don't say anything for rock paper scissors, you just count to three and then do it.

duolingo japanese insisted on 'rock-paper-scissors-shoot' as the correct translation (it gets weirdly picky about the english you use when translating things) and it bugged me to no end because i have NEVER heard that

I've always done rock paper scissors and then just do it (when I was growing up in Australia), but my granddaughters in Connecticut taught me last week that they do it rock paper scissors shoot.

If you're thinking of the musicians' count, "a-one, a-two, a-one-two-three," the example I can think of is in Love for Sale on True Stories, which is "one, two," cracks up laughing, "one-two-three" and then they hit it.

I'd suppose different bands could have a different agreement among themselves, though, and begin on the three.

we called it "scissors, paper, stone" and I only heard "rock, paper, scissors" recently.

it's been a long time since i did rock, paper, scissors & we might have just counted 1, 2, 3 & went on 3. or just pumped our fists three times and revealed our choices roughly at once.

as a kid I did rock paper scissors in Chinese so it was "scissors rock PAPER!" and you reveal on the paper. When I did it in California we just revealed on the third one, so "rock paper SCISSORS!" My spouse grew up in Connecticut so he says "rock paper scissors shoot"

Always just revealed on scissors with no extra beat, have only ever heard things like 'shoot' on television. Going on three is similarly the definite default, hence why if you're hesitant or whatever, you drag out the two (two-and-a-half...)

Aces high in pinochle and hearts, as well. Aces both high and low in rummy, as someone stated earlier (and also blackjack, I believe?)

The Grand Duke.

In the duchy of Pfennig-Halbpfennig, to prevent death by duelling, they have a statutory duel, resolved by drawing cards. The Duke draws the King, the challenger intones "Behold the Ace!" so the Duke is then legally dead (a legal ghost) and must be ignored in public (great chance to upstage the rest of the cast).

After eating many sausage rolls, someone reads the actual law. Duke is legally alive, guy gets to marry the girl, etc.

It went out of fashion as Germany became not so popular...
