Huh. I wonder if this is related or just an odd timing...
but I wasn't able to leave a comment somewhere because "recaptcha v. 1 is shutdown".
Meh, I'll leave it here, as it relates to the Firefox debacle: In this particular case, it seems to be a glitch rather than deliberate. You might still be thrilled to nope out, but it doesn't seem to be intentional behavior.

Which Firefox debacle?Oh, that one. I was a little unhappy, too - wrote about it, tonight. So if a Dreamwidthian has captchas enabled but recaptcha is shut down the whole "leaving a comment" thing just fails because there's no getting past the captcha, I guess?

Yup, I know you did.

That is exactly what happened when I tried to leave this post as a comment in your journal.

I'd started seeing about a year ago (maybe longer ago than that) messages on DW captchas saying that recaptcha would close down soon and hoped someone might replace it with a new system. Or just disable the ability to use image captchas altogether (text-based tests still let people through, right? I should suggest this in Support, just disabling the image-based system in favor of that one).

I'd be happy to but if you got it go for it.

(I was wondering why my DW'd been so damn quiet, not that it's ever a hotspot of activity, but still - so next time I do that, since the system hasn't removed recaptcha, I'll have to hope I remember to only enable the text-based captcha.)

Firefox
Also, didn't know you were a fellow Fx user. That makes, on my access list alone, four of us that I know of. *passes Kleenex around*

Re: Firefox
So I'll probably check workarounds, go, "Yeah, right" then toss a coin to choose between a new copy of ESR (oh, wait...I hope ESR isn't going to have these problems, too. Haven't used it in forever) or running another side-by-side copy of Waterfox without the edits I've made to it.
