Scenes I find cringe-worthy, like where something priceless gets destroyed or someone makes a horrible mistake along that vein... or anything I find gross, like excrement or close-ups of someone's teeth, I'm definitely going to close or avert my eyes.

That is, as long as I can tolerate the audio. There are far more things on T.V. that I mute the sound or plug my ears on than those I avert my eyes on. Commercials are the godawful worst for those, especially with earwormy jingles that drive me up a wall.

I cover my eyes with my hands, fingers curled in - usually during squicky embarrassment scenes or gore involving cut throats.

I take my glasses off, everything's fuzzy and I can see when I want to put them on again. Or if I'm watching on my laptop, I cover the screen with my hand.

I don't actually ever watch TV alone; the only time I see it is when someone else is watching something. I don't generally watch new DVDs alone either.

Be that as it may, I won't look at rape, child abuse, animal torture, or gratuitously-graphic disgustingness. I don't like movies with realistic modern violence, i.e. war or crime. It's okay to waste zombies, orcs, undead, evil shapeshifting robots, face-sucking aliens and all that lot.

the killer film in 'ringu', when the finger nail gets flipped up, auurgh!

Along the same lines, I can't watch any kind of skin penetration like needles or knives. Basically anytime skin is being broken.

Hi, just a note to say that I've added you to my friends list because you seem like an interesting person, and you often post interesting things. I may be back later to do the poll sometime when I shouldn't be going to bed.

What I hate most are embarrassing scenes where everything seems to be going wrong for the main character.

There are certain things that'll put me off, and i generally use it as an excuse to leave the room for a bathroom/snack-fetching break. Or i'll look away and plug my ears if necessary. I don't peek for the sake of peeking - IF i peek (which is rarely) it's to see if it's over yet.

Unless it's of a kid doing something funny and quiet, like lemon-faces, i really don't like scenes of very young children. Noise, "slimy" scenes, etc. And childbirth, ugh. It's so weird...although i don't like them either, i can handle battle scenes better.
