Hey, I have a question.

There's a book I urgently want to read, third in a trilogy, that's coming out in August... in the UK. No word on when it's coming out in the US.

I know that Americans can't order off the amazon.co.uk site... but is it possible for somebody in England to order a book and send it to an American's kindle as a gift? (It's a bit cheaper due to no shipping, don't you think?)

Looks like you can give Kindle books as gifts. Ping me when it comes out and we can give it a go.

Which one do you trust most with your money?

I don't know, but I'm prepared to find out.

Are you sure about that "can't order" thing? Because we just bought Black Books Series 1 through 3 on DVD and had it shipped no trouble.

My bad, my brain completely blanked over the word Kindle in your entry there.

You can't buy Kindle books as gifts at all in the UK, so unfortunately, that won't work (I have a Kindle wishlist where every item reminds me that only I can buy these items...). I'd buy it for you otherwise!

Also, while UK e-books are cheap in some ways because there seem to have been fewer problems with cartels and price manipulation than in some markets, they do attract a hefty 20% tax rate. (Paper books are taxed at 0%.)

Are you dead-set on the kindle format? You can definitely order physical copies off amazon.co.uk. I ordered the fourth Rivers of London novel when it came out six months earlier in the UK than in the us.

I wonder... if I bought a Kindle book, and read it on my PC, I now have a Kindle-format file on my hard drive. Nothing to stop me sending it to you, attached to an email, as far as I know.
What's the book you're after?

YA SF. At that price, pre-ordered.
