Ooooh, remember how my tomatoes and peppers hadn't germinated?

Well, yesterday as I watered them I noticed a little bit of root poking out of some of them that were close to the top. Today, I checked on them and I had three bona fide little sprouts! And then this afternoon I had a veritable garden of sprouts! Words cannot explain how excited I am!

On the other hand, I overwatered one egg carton and two watermelon seeds ended up on the floor. Sigh. My mother thinks that we cannot grow watermelon here, but what she doesn't know is that two inch long unripe watermelons were my favorite thing to eat the summer when I was eleven.

Depends on the type of watermelon. What variety do you have?

I'm trying a cold-weather variety called "Cream of Saskatchewan"--it's white inside, small, and very thin-skinned so it's practically unshippable. Very low heat requirements.

Haha, so are you trying to grow watermelons so you can eat them at 2" long, or did your mother believe that watermelons wouldn't grow, but they couldn't because you ate them all? Or both? :) I love indoor growing. I have a bunch of plants lined up on my small but sunny kitchen window.
