Whoa shit that was long. Sorry I didn't read it all, but the inital post was idiotic. I don't see why people can just accept gay people for who they are...There is no reason to be against them. It's like saying, I don't like cheese because it melts in the sun.

By that logic, lesbians should be able to get married. They have the LOWEST instance of HIV and AIDs, so therefore their getting married would obviously lower insurance costs.

And, get it straight. It's NOT gay sex putting you at a risk of STDs, it's promiscuity and a lack of appropriate protection. No, wishing and praying and hoping do NOT constitute appropriate protection, neither does ignorance. And, to be fair, if you are promiscuous ONLY with people who aren't infected, you're safe. It's a stupid thing to gamble on, but the risk comes from doing it with infected people.

Now. Let's take baby steps. Marriage != promiscuity. Marriage = monogamy (or at least fidelity if this is a plural marriage of some sort), or so one hopes. Marriage certainly != sex. You can have sex sans marriage and vice versa. So marriage would NOT raise the amount of AIDs and would probably lower the spread. I don't care about your insurance rates, frankly. Black people made property values drop, but guess what? Whites, racist or not, are STILL not allowed to refuse to sell their homes to black people.

That was the other thing I wanted to mention, but as you'd said it already I figured it would be silly to say it in one of your own comments.

Same-sex marriage probably won't have any effect at all on the rate of HIV/AIDS on the population. One can have sex without marriage. One can have marriage without sex.

And as I pointed out to the troll, and as has been pointed out in earlier comments to your post, women who have sex exclusively with women have the lowest rate of HIV anywhere. Therefore, using his insane troll logic, lesbians should be allowed to marry.

It's wierd, but women can't pass on the AIDS virus.

From what I was studying at 6 am last night/this morning/whatever, they can. Through sharing needles and giving it to their babies through either brest milk or just having birth, along with unprotected sex. I've never heard anything about the virus being one gender exclusive.

When it comes to sex, it has nothing to do with gender but with who's receiving the bodily fluids. To put it bluntly. It's far easier to catch a disease when bodily fluids are shooting into you than when you're the one shooting the bodily fluids. Though it IS possible for men to get STDs (esp. AIDS) from women through sex it's far less likely than the other way around.

Women CAN pass on the AIDS virus, however they are less likely to do that BECAUSE it's much easier to get AIDS when you're the receiving partner. That is why gay MEN have a much higher rate than gay WOMEN because gay MEN, by the nature of being men, are more prone to the kinds of sex which spread disease faster.

Basically, women give far fewer bodily fluids to men than vice versa...
