*giggles*

So, Ana can recite, on cue: Her name, her mom's full name, her dad's full name, her sister's full name, and the capital of Canada. She knows she is to never vote Republican, though of course she has no idea what that means (and so I don't consider it brainwashing in the slightest. I fully intend to stop playing with that little parlor trick by the time she enters kindegarden, and they start brainwashing her in earnest. Pledge of Allegience, what a load of....). D - o - g spells DOGGIE!

So today, I get bored, and I start "discussing" Bush's foreign policy with her. And I start out "Bush's foreign policy is... is..." just in time for her to chime in, completely untaught and unprompted "Dangerous?"

There's my niece!

Of course, she also answered "What's the capital of Belgium, sweetie?" with "Dangerous!", so... uh... right. And Friday she told me, in all seriousness, that I could not share HER pennies because (you guessed it) "They dangerous. It not safe. You can hurt yourself. Get very big boo-boo. Understand?" I think I may need to start varying the words of that lecture a little....

She knows the capital of Canada? Or at least, can associate "Ottawa" with "Canada"?

Whoa. Genius. I'm not sure if the girls in my department KNOW than it's NOT Montréal.

Brainwashing

When my son was ten months old, he would produce a big smile in response to, "Let's see a big smile if you hate the police."

It didn't do any harm, but I didn't try it again on my grandson.
