So, on BSG. Our Friend Boomer. She's SPOILER (apparently)

In our culture, new parents typically read dozens of books and articles, filled with conflicting advice, about parenting. They may take a class or two.

In other cultures, you're assumed to have spent ample time around young children before you had any of your own - siblings, cousins, neighbors. And anyway, you're also assumed to have older relatives and friends who know about kids and who can help you with your own.

The cylons have... what, exactly? Does this girl know anything *about* babies? Has she ever *seen* a baby? (Much less a toddler, preschool-age-child, teenager....) Is anybody inclined to help her with the messy business of having a child, diapers and whatnot?

Even without the fact that this kid is unique, and nobody knows anything about it (other than the fact that its blood is magic), isn't this just a bit of a problem? At the very least, parents were usually children at one point, but she wasn't. How far back do her memories go?

Boomer is pregnant? I thought Boomer was dead... Shot while being taken in for experiments and then ejected from the airlock or something. Chief was pretty distraught about it...

Or am I confusing character names?

Wouldn't Helo, being the father of the child, be able to help her raise it? I never really assumed she'd be raising it alone, as long as he was around.

Assuming Helo knows anything about children, and he's allowed in her (their) cell, sure. Not sure what the original Cylon child-rearing plan was, though.
