Veronica Mars...

As always, I have trouble writing about the episode until I rewatch it, but I have some thoughts I want to get out of the way....

1. I saw all along that Meg's "abused babysittee" was her sister. Aside from the fact that "very (creepy?) religious" is code for "abusive" (and man, is that ever unfair), it just seemed like the thing to go. I've never been an abused kid, but I know from other things that secrets like this take on a life of their own. Even when you want to tell people, you're still in the habit of hiding it.

2. Logan and Kendall. That's one messed-up dynamic there. And then Dick. Wow. Living up to his name, huh?

3. Poor Cassidy. I wanna give him more hugs than Logan!

4. Other Abused Kid. Is his sister also being abused? Is she keeping a secret when she says "he's intense" or does she just not know? How does his dad actually feel about this? Is he really thinking of himself as an unwilling participant (not that he couldn't do something....) or is that his role to make things worse?

5. Just to interject a bit, the original evidence we had (notebooks full of lines, and the one that said "the way to God is righteousness") do not abuse make. Yes, it matters on degree, and yes, there's other evidence, but based on that evidence - that doesn't equal abuse. And the belt scene with Logan? Well, I hate to say it, but that does not qualify as abuse in and of itself. Yes, later we got other evidence, but at that point, we didn't.

6. Good for Lamb at being something *other* than an incompetant asshole. Or, rather, a competant asshole and an incompetant sheriff.

In general, I want to make a comment about people saying that the season is going slowly.

Yeah, it is. And last season *also* went slowly, or don't you remember? I had the same feeling about BSG - people this season complain about how slowly it moved, but it didn't go any faster last season! (Mind, the insane break between the first and last ten episodes is killing me, but that's a different issue.)

Slow moving isn't a bad thing. It means that we have time for everything to be developed properly.

4. Adam pointed out that the kid could be autistic - that he could be distressed over upsetting his own routine.
