Remember I said one cable box had broken? Yeah...

Well, I was looking into cable service, and, guess what? It looks like fancy-schmancy DTV service is cheaper than the "standard" package of regular cable we have now! (warning: PDF)

I have to be reading that wrong. Otherwise, this is me being *very* irritated (instead of overjoyed, which would be the logical response. Go figure).

Mike used to do customer service for that outfit. It could very well be true. Phone them up (daytime's faster than night) and check out getting it switched to the DTV service (but you might have to wait a long while for a tech unless you can go with a self-install option, saving time and money).

*nods* Frankly, if it is cheaper, I'm going to *insist* we replace our dinosaurs As Soon As Humanly Possible, If Not Sooner. For crying out loud, it's even cheaper if we get a few premium channels!

We found the same thing here -- added a premium HBO-type set of channels and two others and our cable bill stayed the same. *boggle*

I miss directTv so much. It's cheaper, you get more channels, right now they have TIVO... argh. We can't have it because this stupid apartment doesn't have line of sight.
