So, I was out eating dinner with Gabe today....

And at least twice, he said that "you should put meat on your bones". I let this pass the first time, but... well, let's explain. I'm not fat, but I'm hardly anorexically thin, either. As it happens, I see this as a *good* thing, but the expression "you need to put meat on your bones" really doesn't seem right for me... I think I'm pretty much at my natural weight right now.

So I asked him, "Um, Gabe? How much do you think I weigh...?"

Apparently, the answer is 110.

0.0

A hundred and ten.

"Gabe... you know I'm around 170 right now, right?"

No, apparently he did not.

Sheesh, no wonder people have such unrealistic ideas of what number their weight should be (let alone how they should look, that's a different issue) if they think me being me is 110 pounds. I'm 5'6". If I were 110, I'd have to be starving myself. Yes, some people weight much less than I do at my height without starving themselves, their builds are completely different. I'm really not sure where that extra 60 pounds went in his estimation. Even if he were estimating down for some reason, that's a lot of weight to subract from a person!

I figure you would know this, since I'm bad at finding things online. Is it bad to be 5'4" and under 100?

Well, I know I'm 5'2" and I ought to be 110-120lb, so yes? I'm under 100 as well..

LOL. My parents tell me that too.. Although I'm over 10 pounds underweight, so I guess it's justified. (Should be around 110-120lb for my height.. Currently 97lb.)

I'm 4'11 and 105 (that's in the morning without eating-- over the course of the day I gain 5 pounds). So 110 for 5'6 is disgustingly skinny. I'd probably weigh less if I had less leg muscle, but holy crapola! I'm right there in the "average" weight for my range. I tend to overestimate weights though, especially for men. The actual numbers don't mean shit to me.

Hmm... I guess you could, in one way, take it as a compliment.. that's funny. Now I'm curious... I'm going to have to ask a few people what they think I weigh (I'm 5'11 and was 175 the last time I went to the doctor).

Of course, whenever you ask a question like that, most people will underestimate so as not to offend you if their guess is MORE than your actual weight. But like you said, to underestimate by 60 pounds is pretty incredible.
