I like the science, hate the writing. Saying we're natural mind readers is a horrible way to present the data. Sure, it gets people's attention, but how many people will misunderstand it because of that?

Anyhow, on the prison time link... I find it amusing in a horrible way because when W was running for president back in 2000, my mother said one of the reasons she would not vote for him was because it was shown that there are many innocent people in jail and while New York was testing everyone to try to release any innocents, Bush's response was to not even test those on death row, saying "Texans don't make mistakes". I don't know her source, but that stuck with me.

As to censorship... yeah, we don't like to think of it as censorship... censorship is such a bad word. In fact, next we'll remove all of the books that discuss censorship so our children earen't exposed to the concept.

Indeed, it does sound very... "hot." Impulsive, perhaps.

I am also very, very glad not to be of your country.

This may be a bad thing, but you really are how I get pretty much all my news now. *laugh*

If recruiting continues to come up short, there will be renewed talk of reactivating the draft, which would roil the country and, ultimately, produce a less-effective military than the all-volunteer force. Unfortunately, what recruiters most need to offer they simply can't: an exit strategy for Iraq and prospects for a decisive victory in the war against terrorism.
I disagree.

What recruiters need to offer, and can't, is the assurance that soldiers won't be used as cannon-fodder to line the Bush/Cheney Oil Company's silken pockets while simultaneously having their, and their family's benefits slashed because they aren't important enough.

Good point. There are many people who would be willing to risk their lives for a good cause. But they need to be assured it's a good cause and their lives won't be thrown away cheaply.

I'm from Tennessee, and I certainly don't claim Frist. *shudders* What an embarrassment!

And yeah, the bankruptcy statistic mentioned earlier...*waves flag* I was considering it, but it wouldn't have helped any.
