A novel about a synesthesiate. However you spell that. It's a teen/ya book, and the story wasn't as great as it could be, but since it's the only book of that sort I've ever seen, and since I imagine that kids who know enough to know most people *aren't* like them also know enough to think it's wrong, it's not that bad.

(I prefered the latest Artemis Fowl, though, as well as browsing the picture books. What can I say, I'm a picture book lover!)

My friend thirdbird actually rejected that book when she was still working at penguin putnam. I read it a few months ago and wasn't entirely sure that it deserved to be published. It annoyed me because I know I could have done better, but now that it has been done, I won't bother to try myself. At least not in the YA/children's genre.

You should bother. It's really not that great. (And what's truly annoying is that it's received nothing but glowing reviews at amazon. Glowing reviews and mine, that is)
