Oh, COOL!

Basically, they have a biodegradable plastic. They use this plastic to make cell phone covers which contain a sunflower seed, so when you throw it out you get a sunflower. Cool, no?

Yes! They are finally thinking globally!

Yeah, I saw a link to that on [livejournal.com profile] delete_links.

What about the parts inside, though?

People ought to be recycling the parts inside.

I didn't know there was any programming involved. Cell phones are always able to dial 911 without service, and last time I checked all they did was give out the phones. But you're right. They seem to have changed that.. or at least they changed the language on their website.

It makes me wonder if people were abusing their services (getting a free phone just because they want it) or what?

*nod* I understood that. I just meant to say that I didn't know they started programming them that way, because they hadn't last time I read about it.

Sad to hear that people were misusing them. :\

Here you just give them back to the shops for recycling (or there are phone recycling bins around somewhere I think.) When I needed a new battery in my phone a year ago I ended up getting a new phone (same model) because it was £30 for a new battery, £50 (minus £10 if I traded in my old phone) for the new.

Ooh, I just learnt that you can recycle phones (and printer cartridges) for charity, that's cool :0)

The shelter idea is a good one too.

I guess, although I can count the number of cell-phone covers I have ever discarded on zero hands.

Man. I want one of those.

not only are they awesomea good for the environment, they look good. this is vital (unfortunately).

Sunflowers! hee!

Also: they make it only dial 911 because some women were misusing them. so to speak.
