In which I celebrate my brilliance.

I left my beloved computer to watch Shrek, Mulan, Lilo y Stitch, and Mulan (in that order, but they overlapped), and when I came back, the internet had broken.

Well, the cable light is on, so it's not that... *checks anyway*

And it's clearly not lacking power... *checks anyway*

The only problem is that no information is making it from the modem to the computer... hm...

*takes out the USB cord*

Dear god, the spots where it's supposed to be white are black!

*cleancleanclean*

*replaces cord*

Nothing.

Hm.

Maybe it's my laptop?

*tries the mouse in both ports*

Nothing. I mean, something, and that's good, but I've still got no internet.

Well, with luck, it's not the modem. I just need another USB cord, I can pick that up tomorrow. BUT I WANT MY INTERNET.

Hey, wait. Doesn't the printer use a USB cord?

(Technically, we actually have a printer or two, three if you count the one for the old C64)

*runrunrun*

Ooh, it's LONG!

*runrunrun*

INTERNET!

YAY!

And there was much rejoicing.

Oh wow, I wish we still had our C64!

I don't think that would work for our printer - one end of the USB cable is square and the other is the normal shape. But yay for you!

It's always the cable, isn't it? I had lots of trouble with my internet connection months ago, and nobody could really figure out what was wrong. Then I replaced the network cable and voilĂ  - all problems solved.
