but as I was at the corner store somebody poked his head in the store and said "So, I still can't get nothing?" and then, as the cashier picked up the phone "C'mon, you're calling the cops on me again? You already called them on me!"

Well, okay, if he already called them (20 minutes ago, as the phone conversation made clear) then there is no need to ask if you are welcome in the store, because almost anybody could tell you that the answer is no. Whether he was right to call or wrong to call, he's still not going to let you buy anything at this time.

A couple months ago I was walking up to go into my local corner store and a crazy dude who had been thrown out of/asked to leave stood in front of the doors, blocking me, and said the store was closed I should leave. I pointed out he wasn't the guy working at the store, so how could he tell me that. Annoyed me enough that I spent more in there than I'd planned, because fuck the dude for trying to make me not go in and spend money. (We like the local corner store, it's run by MIddle Eastern folks, many of whom don't have great English yet as they have only recently arrived. The store chain's owners are clearly giving their country men a job to help them get settled. We love it. And also the almond danishes are yummy.)
