I suppose they would have been the names of historic warriors rather than mythical love-children of Zeus and every female that didn't run fast enough.

Mars: name them after warriors, weapons, or soldiers (hoplite, e.g.)

That handles Martian moons, but what about Jovian?

Mars actually had a LOT of children that the moons could've been named after, so we could easily be spoiled for choice!
