That great abandonment article was really interesting. Thanks for the link!

I mostly use plain lip balm these days, because the slightly honey-flavored one I like is French and hard to come by in the US*, and I don't like the Burt's Bees honey lip balm. Cherry chapstick will do if I can't find unflavored.

*I discovered that lip balm on my one trip to Paris, because I realized partway through the trip that I needed lip balm, walked into a shop, and used sign language to show the clerk what I wanted. I had taught myself a little French, but it was mostly food words and a few set phrases like "excuse-moi, parlez-vous anglais?"

Sweet candy balms end up causing me to inadvertently lick my lips more and thus they become more chapped.

I've noticed that talking to myself out loud helps me work through vocal filler and more easily remove it from regular conversations, but I doubt that's something most people tracking the phenomenon are interested in studying.

You really think so? That's got me smiling.

I find not a lot of people pay attention to their speech patterns, which ends up meaning if I bring it up, they're usually lost at the basic concept.

I enjoyed the Ea-Nasir thread!

I am a fan of "Soothing Touch" lip balm made in Santa Fe. Lemon cardamom, vanilla rose, and lavender coconut are my favorite flavors.

I don't use lip balm but request petroleum jelly at the dentist. At night if my fingers are dry enough to warrant lotion (unscented), I also rub some on my lips and nose. The weather here isn't usually cold enough to cause lip chapping.
Last year I took hyaluronic acid capsules which seemed to help against dry skin but it also seemed to make my eyes feel annoyingly sticky (a side effect which I found no information on). So I'm currently undecided about its overall helpfulness.
