Guys! My red currant has little berries!

Also, a plant identifier said that the vine I don’t know what it is is most likely black currant, which I can see Mommy planting, or a grape, which I can’t. So we’ll see.

It also said the ragweed probably isn’t, but the important thing is it gives me a rash and takes over and I hate it and it needs to go, not whether I’m right in my identification!

Congratulations on the currants!

I've never had any because they are illegal in North Carolina, apparently due to an outdated panic over white pine blister rust. Ditto gooseberries. From the little reading i just did, sounds like they'd do well on my lot in all the shade.

I love black currants! I dry them and put them in my home-mixed muesli. Red currants are nice too, but much, much softer. None of my black currant bushes ever looked like a vine though...

Ooooooh! What plant identifier are you using? Is it an app? I squee! *makes grabby hands, metaphorically, at the possible app*

I didn't know black currant even grew in North America with any reliability!

What app are you using?

Re black currant: I did not know about the ban! Makes sense, if it's a non-native invasive.

I also noticed tiny incipient berries, on my blackcurrant bushes! Last year there were, I think, *two* berries, probably because the bushes are not protected from marauding birds and squirrels. I shall have to investigate the shed for netting.
