This guy gets it!

Reading the thread title I thought this post was going to be about NYC weather, which I would describe as "soupy" at 80% humidity and 85 degrees.

At least once a day for the past month I've had reason to declare "It's like walking through soup!" as I go about my daily life. And occasionally, upon saying that, I've wondered if this is the normal way of expressing ones dislike of the muggy NYC summer.

But I will wonder no more! Clearly there are at least two of us, and if there's two of us there could be countless numbers of us!

It's like walking around in soup, guys!

Well, not like early June: our AQI has been mostly staying in double digits. But for the past two days there's been a Canadian smoke plume over NYC (and the entire eastern seaboard): https://www.google.com/maps/@46.4024325,-66.2030072,3841433m/data=!3m1!1e3!5m1!1e9?entry=ttu

Yeah, but the soup is filled with Liquid Smoke flavoring and ozone that stings my eyes. And the soup looks like minestrone, because it's bright orange. And I was in a hospital ER in midtown.

I'm getting better. I had a bad case of diarhea for almost a week, and I realized I needed IV fluids. So I went to NYU Langone Hospital, where I had my gall bladder removed last year. And in the ER, they did all kinds of tests, and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. Told me to take probiotics, stay hydrated, and eat saltine crackers, and rest. Sleeping in my air conditioned bedroom made me feel a lot better, and I've gotten out of bed, had a sip of tea, and started reading my email.

And we had a heavy thunderstorm this morning, and it reminded me of an old song from the 1960s - "You and me and rain on the roof...pretty cozy feeling how the rain ain't gettin' in!" But at least my power didn't go off, so I can watch YouTube and see the weather radar maps.

Weather like this reminds me of a blog friend who used to declare, "It's hot as a crotch!"

But one can't run around shouting that just anywhere.

Heheh, well....I mean...it does accurately capture how it all feels, after all!

It's hotter than the Yankees star pitcher's armpit!

the soup thing was a common description of Philly summers too when I was growing up.

I always say it's like swimming down the street. Of course, swimming can be cool and refreshing, but I used to swim on the Gulf coast of Florida in August, when the water was honestly not that cool.

Stone Soup!

My late High Priestess insisted that Jesus' miracle of the loaves and fishes was "stone soup." Everybody who has food with them, bring it over here. Smoked fish, dried meat, some rolls, a piece of cheese - if we divvy it all up there's enough for the whole crowd!
