Of course, now that my tooth is feeling better, I don't want to go through with it at all.

I mean, I still will. The dentist had perfectly good reasons for that recommendation, and I had perfectly good reasons for agreeing, reasons which haven't gone away just because the pain has. If it has to be yanked sooner or later, I may as well get it done sooner and ultimately save myself a lot of angst and also money.

But that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it!

What's really funny is I'm pretty sure I've never had a cavity in my life. Maybe in a baby tooth, but I don't really think so. Even this tooth - no cavities. It's wedged in there, with just enough of a gap between it and the wisdom tooth to allow food to collect, which is why the gum gets infected there so often and why the tooth really does have to go... but cavities are not a problem I've had, knock on wood.

My dental hygiene's quite good, I don't much snack or drink soda, I'm nearly fifty and have had a couple of fillings so far, but never having had a cavity in adult teeth is impressive. Interesting how much these things can vary between people, both genes and habits seem to play quite a role, definitely notice dental patterns in branches of family. Here's hoping it's all good. (Honestly, I find the cleanings worse than the larger work, anesthetic helps plenty!)

Yeah, it's definitely genetics with me, because I do snack much, and drink soda, and load up my tea with sugar, and my dental hygiene can best be described as "executive dysfunction takes its toll".

Meanwhile, my sister, whose dental hygiene is pretty damn good, has exactly the teeth you'd expect me to have.

Hope they give you some good drugs before they pull that puppy.

I have all my wisdom teeth in and they just barely fit. It's a little crowded in there but they don't give me any problems. For a while my dentist would murmur about pulling one out to make room - so I went to an oral surgeon for a second opinion. He said to leave them alone. Now I just smiled broadly at my dentist and say, "You see these teeth? You ain't gettin' 'em."

Hopefully the extraction is without complications and they give you enough assistance that it is also without pain.

Can't try add thickness to the two teeth instead, using filling amalgam? They already plate front teeth for cosmetic reasons...

I can *ask*, but honestly, the gap is... I'm not entirely sure that's really the way to go. It's small enough to be annoying, big enough to... be annoying.
