The children outside are yapping and howling

This is a thing they do sometimes.

I don't know why.

You know, most years I compare the neighborhood children to vampires, because for some reason they always seem to come out to play after sunset, but this current batch is clearly werewolves instead.

hehe. I'd be both...

But then I was often called a Wild Pejorative Name as a kid for how wild I could be.

I do recall, at about age six, *really* enjoying screaming. The other girls did too. We would stand around and scream. I have no idea what that was about, but I can still sort of remember the physical pleasure of the sensation of screaming in my throat. I expect howling would provide similar pleasure.

AWOOOOOOOO!!

(Here in Texas as it is close to a major holiday, we are playing Identify That Sound: Fireworks or Gunshots edition. I think I would prefer the howling.)
