A word to the protagonist of this book...

Look, I know you and he are really hot for each other, but have you forgotten that you're looking for a kidnapped child? His nephew? And, in fact, that if this child stays kidnapped for much longer, not only will that definitely start a new war between your two peoples, but also, as the hated villain of the last war, you'll be the scapegoat?

I'll I'm saying is you two need to remember your priorities and keep it in your pants.

Or, at the very least, wait until you're not literally hiding in the bad guy's hangout! There is a time and a place! The only upside to being caught like this is the slim chance that your captors would laugh themselves to death before they can shoot you. But probably not, because unlike you two, they at least act like professionals, and will probably wait to laugh until they're off the clock.

Honestly, the plot to romance ratio of this book was extremely backwards given the high-stakes nature of the plot, and let's be clear, that romance was pretty questionable to begin with.

OMG I hate stories and books like that! I do not fathom sexual desire being so strong that you say 'hey it would be dangerous and stupid and a detriment to several people if we stop now to make out but we gotta!"

To be fair I am on the ace spectrum. ;-) But I have never understood "I need you so bad RIGHT NOW" to the point bad decisions are made.

A plot in which the bad guy's henchmen open the lockup or truck or shed they've stashed the romance pair, possibly handcuffed together, to find them awkwardly in flagrante, would be awesomely cringy. It could go so many places from there! Including, henchmen join in for a Oglaf-meets-Chuck-Tingle orgy scene.

OMG, I hate it when the protagonist is irrational, unless they are supposed to be insane.
