Remember when Scalia died a full 11 months before the election

and certain parties threw a hissy fit and invented a brand-new precedent on the spot that of course they couldn't confirm a new justice that close to the election?

This was always bullshit, but what really rankles is that many of those same people are now declaring their intention to push through a new justice now, only two months from the election. She's not even cold in her grave.

That moves this from bullshit to hypocritical bullshit, and that I just cannot abide.

It is hypocritical bullshit.

And yet, sadly, it's exactly what I expected.

Me, too. Exactly. And it's only a few days over 6 weeks to the election. . .

My Senators are reliable in opposing. The one I haven't heard mentioned who should be pressured like nobody's business is Richard Burr of NC.

I'd call him on the carpet of the cloakroom and say, "Look. You insider traded on COVID knowledge and we have you dead to rights. If you support this rush, and we win in November, you're going down. Even if you get a pardon on the way out, we will still vote to expel you- and then a Democratic governor will name your replacement."

It's hardball time.

I am unsurprised that the craven hypocrite from Kentucky thinks nothing of abandoning any consistency of principles so as to achieve what he and his party have considered to be their real goals for years now.

Sadly, I am not surprised that they are trying this. They've been thumbing their noses at the American people for close to four years. Hypocrisy means nothing to them. Principles mean nothing. Integrity isn't in their dictionary.

What does surprise me is that they couldn't even wait the weekend before announcing that they'll ram something through. It's indecent -- another thing they don't care about.

We have to do everything we can to stop this. It might not be enough. We live in scary times. :-(
